Community Health Outreaches

Health Education

Adara’s Health Outreaches deliver interrelated components of education, awareness, screening and where possible, treatments, in informal community settings offering a broad spectrum of health services.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for low-income women through health promotion and disease prevention.

Adara has delivered outreaches in Coker-Aguda, Ikota, Oshodi, Ajegunle, Ojota, Somolu and Agege communities, reaching over 8,700 families with blood pressure, blood sugar, malaria and HIV/AIDS screening and tests; as well as providing eye-testing services and free glasses as needed. Outreaches are delivered in partnership with leading hospitals, pharmacies and other related health sector organizations.

Our objective is to:

  • Increase awareness of common asymptomatic diseases
  • Provide information on safe reproductive health practices, including breast examinations
  • Increase the visibility of available community health resources
  • Motivate participants to make positive health behaviour change and self-care practices
